“Tonight we made history. Unfortunately, it cannot be two winners.” That’s what said Novak Djokovic, after winning the Australian Open by beating his all-time rival, Raphael Nadal. Indeed, the match, along almost six hours, was the longest one in the Australian Open history. It was also the most exciting one. The two men broke the limits of their own physical resistance, fighting for each ball, determined to overcome. At the end of the game, there was just one winner, but there were two champions.
I think this final was a pure moment of sport. Djokovic fought for his victory and he deserved it, but Nadal is also a great champion and he could have won too.
Un gagnant, deux champions
« Ce soir, nous avons fait l'histoire. Malheureusement il ne peut pas y avoir deux vainqueurs. ». C’est ce qu’a dit Novak Djokovic après avoir remporté l’Open d’Australie en battant son rival de toujours, Raphaël Nadal. En effet, le match, long de presque six heures, est le plus long de toute l’Histoire de l’Open d’Australie. C’était aussi le plus passionnant. Les deux hommes ont dépassé les limites de leur propre résistance physique, se battant pour chaque balle, déterminés à triompher. A la fin du match, il n’y avait qu’un gagnant mais il y avait deux champions.
Je pense que cette finale était un pur moment de sport. Djokovic s’est battu pour sa victoire et il l’a méritée, mais Nadal est aussi un grand champion et il aurait tout aussi bien pu gagner.
