Two
dead in helicopter crash
Two
men have been killed in a crash near Nowra on the New South Wales
west coast. The helicopter, a Robinson R44, crashed during the
take-off from the airfield of Jaspers Brush. Police released details.
The Melbourne pilot and the American passenger died at the scene.
They were both in their 50s and reportedly involved in making a
documentary.
Witnesses
told the police the helicopter crashed shortly after taking-off and
burst into flames. David Bennett, president of the South Coast
Recreational Flying Club is one of them. He was standing just a few
metres from the helicopter at the moment of the crash and said
"Something has gone wrong and they have crashed to the ground
and burned".
The
crash occurred near a hangar. People there had already started
fighting the fire
when
the crews of the Rural Fire Service arrived. They found the
helicopter well alight. Their spokesman said that the fire burned
mostly within the cabin area of the helicopter. Police will prepare a
report. A team of investigators from the Australian Transport Safety
Bureau will examine the scene.
My
opinion :
The tragedy came about at the take-off so I think that it's probably
a technical problem but the helicopter should have been checked, or
better checked to prevent the accident.

hommes ont été tués dans un accident d'hélicoptère près de
Nowra sur la côte ouest de l'état de New South Wales.
L'hélicoptère,
un Robinson R44, s'est écrasé pendant le décollage à l'aéroport
de Jaspers Brush. La police a révélé quelques détails. Le pilote
originaire de Melbourne et son passager américain sont morts sur le
coup. Les deux quinquagénaires auraient participé à la préparation
d'un documentaire.
Les
témoins ont raconté que l'hélicoptère s’est écrasé peu après
le décollage et a pris feu. David Bennett, président du Club de
Loisirs de Vol de la côte sud, est l'un d'entre eux. Il se tenait à
seulement quelques mètres de l'hélicoptère au moment du crash et a
déclaré "Il ya eu un problème, il s’est écrasé au sol et
a pris feu".
L'accident
a eu lieu près d'un hangar. Les personnes présentes sur les lieux
avaient déjà commencé à contenir le feu quand les équipes du
Service d'Incendie en milieu rural sont arrivées. Ils ont trouvé
l'hélicoptère en flammes. Leur porte-parole a dit que le feu a
surtout brûlé l'intérieur de la cabine de l'hélicoptère. La
police va préparer un rapport. Une équipe d’enquêteurs du Bureau
Australien de la Sécurité du Transport va examiner les lieux.
Mon
opinion : Le drame a eu lieu au décollage donc je pense que c'était
probablement un problème technique mais l'hélicoptère aurait du
être vérifié, ou mieux vérifié s'il l'a été afin d'empêcher
l'accident.
