Australia has approved US Marine deployment plan

Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced at a news conference with US President Barack Obama in Canberra that some US Marines will be deployed in Australia in the coming years.

"Australia will welcome deployments of a company-size rotation of 200 to 250 Marines in the Northern Territory for around six months at a time," she said. This will be the biggest deployment in Australia since World War II.

This deployment is perceived to answer China’s growing influence, but Obama said this is to enlarge its pledge to the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Later during his visit Obama went to the war memorial in Darwin to honor US and Australian soldiers killed during World War II.

Julia Gillard, le Premier ministre australien, a annoncé lors de sa conférence de presse avec le président américain Barack Obama à Canberra que des Marines américains seront déployés en Australie dans les années à venir.

«L’Australie accueillera un déploiement de 200 à 250 Marines dans le Territoire du Nord, relayés tous les six mois », a expliqué Julia Gillard. C’est le plus grand déploiement en Australie depuis la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

Ce déploiement est perçu comme une réponse à l’influence grandissante de la Chine, mais Obama a affirmé que ce n’est que pour intensifier son engagement avec l’ensemble de l’Asie-Pacifique.

Plus tard pendant sa visite, Obama s’est rendu au Monuments aux Morts de Darwin pour honorer les soldats américains et australiens tombés pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

Two Muslim extremists back in Melbourne’s streets

Aimen Joud and Ahmed Raad, two Muslim extremists who were accused of plotting a deadly terrorist attack, have just been freed eight days ago, after six years behind bars. The two individuals, back in Melbourne’s streets, still pose a threat, as there is no sign their anti-Western beliefs changed in prison.

"Their radical and extreme views remain a concern," one investigating officer said. "While local police will be aware of where they are living, they will keep an eye on them, but there is not the manpower to do it constantly."

Police Association Secretary Greg Davies said it was disturbing that the pair was likely not to be watched around the clock but a Victoria Police spokesman refused to say whether they would be watching them.

Aimen Joud et Ahmed Raad, deux extrémistes musulmans accusés d’avoir tenté d’organiser un attentat terroriste, ont été libérés il y a huit jours, après six ans passés derrière les barreaux. Les deux individus, de retour à Melbourne, constituent encore une menace car leurs convictions antioccidentales ne semblent pas l’air d’avoir changé en prison.

« Leurs idées extrémistes demeurent une préoccupation », a déclaré un policier enquêteur. « Tant que la police locale pourra les localiser, ils pourront garder un œil sur eux, mais ils n’auront pas suffisamment d’hommes pour le faire constamment. »

Greg Davies, secrétaire de la Police Association qui représente les policiers australiens, a affirmé qu’il était inquiétant que les deux hommes ne soient pas surveillés vingt-quatre heures sur vingt-quatre, mais un porte-parole de la police de Victoria a refusé de révéler s’ils feraient l’objet d’une quelconque surveillance.

Rescuing whales in Tasmania

Rescuers are struggling to save stranded whales in Macquarie Harbour on Tasmania's west coast, using jet boats and a new scoop net to help whales reach the ocean.

Because of the wind blocking the way whales usually take, the rescue team is waiting for better weather to free two sperm whales.

Sperm whales using sonar navigation to move may have been scared by the different topography of the harbour.

To break the sand's suction on the whales, mammal specialists use heavy workboats from fish farms.

A net is strung between two of those boats, to scoop up and free the whale in the ocean.


Sauvetage de baleines en Tasmanie
Des sauveteurs tentent de sauver des cachalots échoués dans le port de Macquarie sur la côte ouest de la Tasmanie.

Ils utilisent des hors bords et des filets spéciaux pour aider les mammifères à rejoindre l'océan.

A cause du vent qui soufflait et qui bloquait le chenal emprunté par les cachalots pour retourner dans l'océan les sauveteurs ont dû attendre que la météo s’améliore pour tenter de libérer deux mammifères prisonniers.

Ces cachalots qui se dirigent avec des sonars ont pu être désorientés par la topographie inhabituelle du port.

Pour secourir  les baleines enlisées dans le sable, des spécialistes de ces mammifères ont utilisé de gros bateaux servant pour la pisciculture en mer.

Un filet tendu entre deux bateaux permet de capturer la baleine pour ensuite la relâcher dans l'océan.

Queen Elizabeth's visit to the Australian Memorial

The Queen payed hommage to Australian soldiers killed in past wars by attended a wreath laying and met defence force personnel at the Australian War Memorial.
There were a grey sky and a steady rain, but Canberrans were turned in sheltered beneath umbrellas to see the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh arrive.
The Queen laid the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier with a dedication read : "In Memory of the Glorious Dead
Elizabeth R and Philip".
Then the royal party inspected the Roll of Honour and proceeded to a meeting with veterans and ADF members. The Queen left the Memorial accompanied by loud cheers.


Visite de la Reine Elizabeth au Mémorial Australien
La Reine d'Angleterre a rendu hommage aux soldats Australiens morts au combat en déposant une gerbe et en rencontrant le personnel du Mémorial Australien de la Guerre.
Malgré le mauvais temps, les habitants de Canberra sont venus se recueillir et voir la Reine ainsi que le Duc d'Edinburgh.
La Reine a déposé sur la Tombe du Soldat Inconnu la gerbe sur laquelle était écrit :

"A la mémoire des morts glorieux
Elizabeth R et Philip"
Après un meeting avec les vétérans et les membres de L'ADF, la Reine a quitté le Mémorial sous les aplaudissements de la foule.

To sum up, Clara is a blonde she has a blonde character. She likes to be rignt whenever she can and she often yells at people. She steals everything, pariculary in pencil cases so be careful when you lend something to her because you may not see it again.
